EDC Certified™ — Efficient Data Center Certification

Certification

EDC Certified™ is LegacyGrid AI's owner-side certification standard for AI data center efficiency, resilience, and governance performance. Developed and governed by LegacyGrid AI, it evaluates facilities across power, cooling, water, resilience, and sustainability dimensions — providing owners, investors, and community stakeholders with a documented, evidence-based record of actual facility performance.

Practice Description

Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) is the most widely cited metric in data center efficiency — and one of the most misused. A facility can achieve a low PUE while consuming enormous amounts of water, operating with inadequate resilience, or failing to meet community sustainability obligations. PUE alone is not a sufficient measure of efficiency for AI infrastructure.

EDC Certified™ is LegacyGrid AI's proprietary certification standard. LegacyGrid AI develops, governs, and issues the certification — evaluating efficiency across five dimensions: power, cooling, water, resilience, and sustainability. Each dimension is assessed against documented evidence — not vendor claims or design intent. The result is a LegacyGrid AI-issued certification that owners, investors, and community stakeholders can rely on as an evidence-based record of actual facility performance.

Application

Certification scope must begin with verified operational data. Develop an evidence register, assessment methodology, scoring criteria, and certification documentation. Coordinate with facility operators, utility providers, and community stakeholders while preserving independent certification authority.

Practice Controls

Evaluate efficiency across power, cooling, water, resilience, and sustainability dimensions

Distinguish verified operational performance from design intent or vendor claims

Document evidence sources and assessment methodology for each dimension

Connect certification findings to owner-side decision-making and community reporting

Typical Deliverables

EDC Certified™ assessment report with dimension-by-dimension scoring

Evidence register documenting data sources and verification methodology

Certification documentation for owner, investor, and community use

Remediation roadmap for dimensions that do not meet certification thresholds

Questions We Help Answer

Q1

What operational data is available to support an independent efficiency assessment?

Q2

What efficiency claims have been made by the facility operator — and what evidence supports them?

Q3

What are the water consumption and sustainability performance characteristics of the facility?

Q4

What resilience and availability performance does the facility actually deliver?

Q5

What community sustainability obligations apply — and how are they being met?
