HBCUs Hold Land in AI Infrastructure Corridors
Many HBCUs were established on large land grants in areas that are now — or are becoming — active AI infrastructure corridors. This land is an asset that institutions already hold. The question is whether they will be positioned to benefit from it.
The AI Economy Is Creating Massive Value
AI infrastructure development — data centers, power infrastructure, fiber networks, battery storage — is creating hundreds of billions of dollars in economic value. HBCUs and their communities are positioned to participate in this value creation, but only if they enter conversations with the right preparation and protections.
Without Preparation, Schools Negotiate Blind
Institutions that enter AI infrastructure conversations without independent analysis, deal benchmarks, and enforceable guardrails are at a structural disadvantage. LegacyGrid's role is to ensure that every HBCU in the network enters these conversations prepared.
Community Benefit Must Be Enforceable
Aspirational community benefit language in press releases does not protect communities. LegacyGrid's framework requires enforceable community benefit obligations — workforce commitments, compute access, environmental standards, and governance rights — to be built into deal terms before any agreement is signed.
